Nerves, Hormones & Homeostasis

What to do?

On the next tab of this LibGuide you will find a collection of articles for you to peruse and choose a topic that interests you. (NB: Please let Mrs Phillips know if any of the links are not working or if they are being smoothwalled so she can investigate for you.)

1. Once you've selected an article, record the evidence you find of the SHE concepts on the recording sheet provided to you in the booklet from your teacher.

2. Select one or two SHE concepts MOST pertinent to article (based on frequency of evidence recorded in table above)

3. Use the following structure

  • CLAIM – Make a claim against a single SHE concept
  • EVIDENCE – Look for evidence within a referenced source that provides supporting evidence/justification of your claims (at least 10 referenced articles need to be considered throughout the whole document)
  • JUSTIFY – Justify what the Biology means for Society (What are the applications and what are the implications)

4. Have a go at structuring a SHE response by responding to this prompt: Discuss how the example you've chosen illustrates one or more of the key concepts of science as a human endeavour.
